It's a wonderful day at wemakisolutions, LLC. I ran across an interesting statistic this afternoon and thought I would share it. What smartphone platform is most popular world wide? If you said Apple, you are wrong, and it's not even close. According to an IDC report, Android leads Apple in world wide marketshare 82.8% to 13.9%. This is as of the end of the 2nd quarter of 2015. (See the chart below.)
Of course the popularity of Android phones makes them a target for hackers, but, obviously their lower purchase price in general has had wide appeal among buyers. The survey also made it clear that Windows and Blackberry phones hold less of a market share than they did just a few years ago. Blackberry may be on its last legs.
This is why we at wemakisolutions, LLC make mobile apps for both Android and Apple and no longer worry about making apps for the remaining platforms. Android and Apple account for 96.7% of the mobile smartphone market. We are focusing our energies among these two.
